The Barracuda Lounge in Portland, Oregon,
Tom Leykis took a call from a woman who claimed
to have shot and killed her "ex one-night-stand"
after an argument over child support.
She identified herself as
"Sue from Ahwatukee Arizona".
The call contained enough information about the March 24, 2001 shooting death of "Tortsen Rockwood" to warrant an investigation by Arizona police.

On August 7, 2008 (the suspect's birthday) investigators formally presented the Maricopa County Attorney's Office with their findings.
Police are seeking charges of first-degree murder and filing a false police report against Megan Suzanne Vice.

So you want to mod your Xbox 360 ?
Well, after about 3 weeks of spare time
here is what i've done
I started with an Xbox 360 which some dude
had let his dog pee on.
Yes, this will cause a Red Ring Of Doom effect,
and a video fault so I really had nothing to loose.
I took the motherboard out of the case
and doused it with 91% isopropyl alcohol and
Dried it out with a blow dryer for about 15 min's.

Then I preformed a heatsink mod and replaced the "X Clamps "with nuts and bolts.

I plugged it in, turned it on and I'll be damned...it worked for 3 min's
I had to fiddle with the nuts, (Stop giggling !) on the video heatsink.
After much trial and error and trial and error, and F'ing Trial and error, it worked for good.
Then I found the case I wanted to put it in,
The Silverstone sst-lc02B.
With the help of some Epoxy, J.B. Weld, heat shrink tube, a hot glue gun, and a Dremel,
this is what i came up with.

In The Pink....
Some of you might be wondering about what happened at
Ground Zero Lounge last night.
Well, I was there, and perhaps I am still a little star-struck
and having had about 342 cups of coffee in the course of the evening
I'm not quite sure myself, but there are some things I am sure of
so let me get the facts down here before it all becomes a fuzzy memory.
I was up at the microphone on the floor giving a heartfelt rant about
how when the Jack-boot is stomping your neck into the ground and everyone
is watching it on CNN, I will be there right beside you fighting the oppressers
tooth and nail. I than heard a voice from the back of the room cheering.
When I finished this cute blond Grrrrl walks up to me and asks if I do
spoken word performances, 'cause she "loves" my voice, and my passion.
I blushed a little and explained how Ground Zero Lounge was a place where people
go to exercise the right of free speech and that we do this every week.
Well, she thanked me for the inspiration, and walked directly onto the stage
to speak with Clyde Lewis. Meanwhile I returned to my seat.
Kicking back with coffee and a smoke, I had no idea what was to come.
Things were starting to wrap up as I got into a heated debate with a guy
who had walked in with "The girl with the cute butt" in the end he told me that
her name was Alecia, and that she wanted me to join them at their table.
At this point Clyde said that Alecia was going to sing a song so I decided to wait
till she was done with her song.
Damn, she has a great voice, and here I was with no idea who she was.
When the crowd dispersed from around her I got a chair and sat down next to her.
She was sweet, kind, and we seemed to hit it off.
Karaoke from hell was warming up and she asked me if I would sing something
for her.
When a pretty girl asks you to sing for her, what are you supposed to do?
So I put in a slip for her to sing "Bobby McGee" and I dropped "When Doves Cry"
She got called first, and just about then Devereaux, the guy I was debating turns to me
and says "She's really into you." Now I had already determined that she was married,
and I kind of thought Dev' was playing me for a fool when he tried to tell me who she
was. So, I just figured I'd play along and besides that, she was being really friendly.
At this point it should be noted that I have the greatest respect for marriage,
so after she finished singing, and I was called next, I went up, sang my song,
and returned to the table to kick it with my new friend.
I decided to let her take the lead, and she had already traded me hats,
that is something I consider flirting, but remember "SHE'S MARRIED"
We were holding hands like old friends, and I let her use my sholder as a drum set,
(I told her that the last time I was beaten like that I was tied to a headboard.)
(Made her blush this time.)
We traded E-mail addresses and she said that she would send me a copy of her
"New Single" about shallow hollywood chicks,
kissed me goodbye and took off in a cab, because she had to be up early.
All in all it was a fantastic night, had I never found out who she is,
I would have done exactly the same thing and considered myself to be a
lucky bastard. It only falls into the bonus catagory that my Valentines day kiss
came from "PINK". Thank you Alecia.

Planning to pull the wool over the eyes of the producers with the help of others in attendance that night, the most interesting thing he said was that the Kennedy assasination was an industrialist conspiracy to enforce the compliance of future Presidents with the will of Big Business. The rant he gave was, verbatim, a rant given by the late Bill Hicks in a comedy routine from the album "Rant in E minor" Apparently none of the staff of the program was aware of this fact until after the show aired. In their attemp to debunk conspiracy theories, Penn and Teller became the victims of one. The title of "Beret Dude" was given by Penn and Teller in this episode.

NEW YORK - A giant balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade snagged a street light and caused part of it to fall, injuring a woman and a child.

The accident happened in Times Square near the end of the nationally televised parade when the tethers on the "M&M's Chocolate Candies" balloon became entangled on the head of the street lamp and knocked it off.

"It happened so fast," said parade spectator Karim Simmons. "It dropped like a rock."

The accident marred the holiday celebration but the injuries were less serious than in the parade eight years ago when another balloon knocked over a lightpost, critically injuring a woman and prompting changes in parade rules.

The 26-year-old woman and 11-year-old girl who were hit Thursday were identified by police as sisters from Albany. The girl was treated for minor scrapes on the side of her head. The woman, who was in a wheelchair, needed six stitches on the back of her head. Both were released from a hospital by late afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

"We should be thankful none were more seriously hurt," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.

The crew handling the balloon was apparently trying to correct its course after a gust when it became entangled with the light, Bloomberg said. The
National Weather Service said the wind speed in Central Park at 11 a.m. was 10 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph.

The circumstances were an echo of the 1997 accident, when 45 mph winds blew a "Cat in the Hat" balloon into a metal pole on Central Park West.

As a result of that accident, balloon handlers were ordered to be given more training, and guidelines were set to ground balloons if the winds were too strong. Streetlights were also redesigned, including the one broken Thursday.

Parade organizers were given the go-ahead to use the balloons this year, but ordered them tethered on shorter lines because of moderate breezes at the parade's start.

The Macy's parade started in 1924 and has been an annual tradition, canceled only in the World War II years of 1942 to 1944.

The balloons, including Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer, the parade's first Latina balloon character, shared top billing with 10 marching bands, 27 floats and performers such as LeAnn Rimes, Aaron Neville and Kristin Chenoweth.

Among those watching was 85-year-old Ron Kahn, who took pictures while perching on a ladder.

"This is wonderful. It's part of New York," Kahn said.

Sayra Hernandez watched from a side street with her son, Lucas, 4, sitting on her shoulders.

"It seems better on TV, maybe more glamorous, not this hectic," said Hernandez, 30, of Manhattan. "But the smile on my kid's face is priceless."

We investigate the efficacy of three aluminum helmet designs on a sample group of four individuals. Using a $250,000 network analyser, we find that although on average all helmets attenuate invasive radio frequencies in either directions (either emanating from an outside source, or emanating from the cranium of the subject), certain frequencies are in fact greatly amplified. These amplified frequencies coincide with radio bands reserved for government use according to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). Statistical evidence suggests the use of helmets may in fact enhance the government's invasive abilities. We theorize that the government may in fact have started the helmet craze for this reason."

PORT MORESBY (Reuters) - Police in Papua New Guinea have arrested 320 people for practicing sorcery and religious cults, the National newspaper reported Thursday.

Belief in sorcery is widespread in this jungle-clad, mountainous South Pacific island nation where some villages only encountered Western civilization in the 1930s.

Police raided three villages Monday near the city of Lae on the north coast and arrested leaders of a "cargo cult" and their followers, the newspaper said. Those arrested were aged between 20 and 70.

Cargo cults believe that Western goods or cargo, first encountered through missionaries and explorers, are created by ancestral spirits. They have been known to build airstrips in the jungles in the belief that planes would land with cargo.

One group led by two women used menstrual blood as "sacred water" to enable them to see "invisible things," said the newspaper in the capital, Port Moresby.

One of the female cult leaders, Malamba Kifea, said the sorcery improved the livelihood of the people in Kasin village, a remote settlement some eight hours walk from the main highway.

"We read the Bible and in the book of Leviticus, we found strange teachings about women and their monthly period," Kifea told The National.

"We were not sure and did not consult our pastor but kept the secret to ourselves after having revelations and seeing cargo and money being given to us."

Another group in Sadau village used skeletons from ancestors to summon "supernatural powers" to predict the future and bring prosperity.

"We can invoke blessings for protection, hunting, luck and to increase wealth," said elderly cult leader Erbu Kuriong.

Kuriong said the sorcerers charged for their fortune telling, with the proceeds used to build a home for the group.

About 80 percent of PNG's 5.4 million population ekes out subsistence lives in villages.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - For Washington commuters, unattended bags or odd behavior spell "sumpnspicious."

The newly coined term is part of a novel campaign by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to make jaded customers on the city's buses and underground trains stay alert to terrorist threats -- despite a slew of false alarms and no new attacks since September 11, 2001.

Five hundred Washington buses and about 90 subway cars now carry advertising posters with creative dictionary definitions of made-up words urging commuters to keep an eye out for danger and respect fellow travelers on the busy "Metro" system.

"Sumpnspicious," -- a play on the slang pronunciation of "something suspicious" -- is defined as "n. (noun) unattended package or odd, unusual behavior that is reported to a bus driver, train operator ... station manager or Metro Police."

Other definitions include "PlanBdextrous: ... adj. (adjective) able to plan an alternate route home in case Metro is inaccessible due to unforeseen circumstances."

The campaign is a far cry from the straightforward security alerts usually seen or heard in the United States, which some officials fear are being ignored by Americans bored with years of warnings. Some U.S. residents say they have been turned off by what they consider excessive security precautions.
"They're finding it difficult to to frighten people anymore," said one area man.
"I am glad they have decided to take a more straightforward approach to looking stupid."

SOFIA (Reuters) - A flock of Bulgarian circus doves was barred from returning home on Thursday because of an outbreak of avian flu in Turkey.
The 20 doves had been on tour in Bulgaria's southern Black Sea neighbor for several months with the Balkanski & Sons Circus as part of a menagerie that also includes horses and Siberian tigers.

But they were refused re-entry after Sofia banned imports of live birds and poultry from Turkey and its northern neighbor Romania after both reported cases of bird flu last weekend.

"This is really unfortunate for the circus. They had permission to take the animals out of the country, but the time of their return coincided with the ban," border control inspector Atanas Mihailov told Reuters.

"The owner will probably find someone to take care of the birds in Turkey until the ban is lifted."

Bulgaria -- seen as a potential next destination for the flu because it lies on similar migratory bird routes as Romania and Turkey -- has stepped up checks at borders and farms near its coastal and Danube river wetlands to forestall any outbreak.

Earlier on Thursday, the European Union's executive said the flu discovered in Turkey was the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain, which has killed more than 60 people and caused the death of millions of birds in Asia. Tests are still pending on Romania's outbreak.

The RIAA has gotten a lot of ink for suing John Doe users from peer-to-peer (P2P) file serving systems and networks. Now one of the alleged users is suing back for RICO violations, fraud, invasion of privacy, abuse of process, electronic trespass, violation of the Computer Fraud act, negligent misrepresentation, the tort of outrage and deceptive business practices. The plaintiff is a disabled single mother of an eight year old girl living in Oregon who claims she has never downloaded music in her life despite claims made by legal documents sent to her on February 2, 2005.

Where this case goes is anyone's guess but at this late date the fact is that customers are being forced to sue record companies as the labels and their representation desperately grasp at straws in terms of saving their antiquated business model. While legal downloading of songs has been a consumer success, it has not meant a boom in record sales. In fact it has thrown the industry back to the 1950s in terms of its business model where consumers buy singles over albums. The effect is flat revenues at best with the future looking bleak. Generation Y, currently in college now, feel fully justified stealing music because of the harsh manner the RIAA has represented their record label clients.

Gen Y isn't right but they are the ones spending the money and as a group they need to be swayed back into becoming law abiding, record buying consumers. The goal isn't impossible but it will take nothing short of a corporate enema for many a record executive to stop the bleeding. Flushed from their system must be the idea that formulaic, pre-produced acts like The Spice Girls, 98 Degrees and The Backstreet Boys are the overnight solution to their problems. A return to bands that can really, truly play would also help sell records on a long term basis. Much like a pushy girlfriend after six months of dating, the idea commitment to an artist needs to extend past releasing them after their first album doesn't immediately go Gold.

Lastly, and most importantly the RIAA needs to pick its battles carefully. If they have threatened to sue a disabled, 42 year old mother who is on Social Security who can prove she has never downloaded a gangasta rap song in her life, they deserve the PR black eye. Law suits and threats need to be saved for the likes of gross abusers who dedicate entire servers to giving away copy written music. Those guys are out there and need to be stopped more than some single mother.

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Santa Claus will receive $5,000 in compensation from the Danish air force after an F-16 fighter jet frightened one of his reindeers to death.

Professional Danish Santa, Olavi Niikanoff, complained to the air force after a reindeer died with fright when a jet roared over the field where his animals were grazing, air force spokesman Captain Morten Jensen told Reuters.

"We acknowledge it was our fault and we have to pay compensation," Jensen said, adding that the air force regularly paid out sums of money to compensate for animals that die of fright when planes boom overhead.
Now if the U.S. would just admit to that incident with the Easter Bunny at Area 51,
we could really start to heal as a people.

After a brief ceremony outside the prison on the outskirts of Baghdad, the 500 freed detainees left the area on public buses. They were the first of 1,000 to be freed before Ramadan begins next week, the U.S. military said.

Negativland, pioneers in everything from mash-up music to copyfighting, and co-authors of portions of the Creative Commons, are having a 25 year retrospective in New York City starting this Friday, September 9th, at the Gigcantic Artspace. The "theme" is a twisted, insane theme park of Negativland creations both old and new, and if you're within a few hundred miles you have no excuse not to go. As a bonus, pretty much all the members will be there for a reception this Friday."

Viewers will find appropriations of Disney ventures - such as a reconfigured Lincoln from the Hall of Presidents, and a video remix of the Little Mermaid, merged with the angry telephone recording of a Disney studio executive. Anecdotes about the media and entertainment industries are expressed in such work as the discovery of "Howland Island," and ideas of approaching stores such as Petco as an art supplies depot. Other work includes a set of limited edition prints from Negativland's 2002 "Death Sentences" project.

Also on view will be an unauthorized special edition of a U2 vs. Negativland ipod (version 2G), created by Francis Hwang. Screw-loose Letters

We have no intention of explaining how excerpts from letters between a loathsome hell-spawn known as Lord Stinkblossom the Eternal Karlrovian and Pat Robertson, a minor religious functionary doing everything he can to ascend to Hell's upper echelon with both his virtue and hypocrisy intact, fell into our hands. We must protect our sources.

Though there is no surefire way to authenticate these mysterious correspondences with a high degree of metaphysical certitude, it is our journalistic duty to bring these letters forward. They shed much needed light on a televangelist's bizarre statements and shameless behavior in the last 30 years or so of his public ministry.

But be warned, dear reader. These excerpts will cause agitation in gentle souls unaccustomed to divining the spiritual realities behind the headlines. Logical positivists are advised to skip to the funnies where they are less likely to encounter offensive notions. If you're a nebby sinner, you're invited to read on:

"Hail, Pat Robertson, First Talon of the Praying Hand; Grand Shepherd and founder of the 700 Deadly Assassins Club, Murderous Wolf in Sheep's Clothing Division, Inc.

"We, the hosts of Hell salute you. By our infernal reckoning, you've blithely ignored several major commandments within 72 hours of calling for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Good for you. The Morning Star applauds your transparent blasphemy.

"The first rule you tossed aside was 'Thou shalt not covet,' followed by the equally anachronistic and much misunderstood dictum 'Thou shalt not kill.' Being the wise old Pharisee that thou art, you understand that the prohibition against murder is hardly unequivocal and hasn't been for some time. If there weren't reasonable allowances for killing based on anger, personal profit, religious duty, politics and nationalistic zeal, how would mankind experience any progress?

"Putting a bullet in Hugo Chavez's brain would, indeed, save the United States billions of dollars while keeping the oil flowing, but at the cost of the assassin's soul and every scintilla of moral authority any administration authorizing the hit could claim for itself.

"You were wise not to raise any of these issues with your gullible viewers, Pat. Why muddy the ethical waters with anything as inconvenient as morality when you're speaking to an audience of Christians? They already know right from wrong, so what's the point in rubbing their pious noses in it?

"Fortunately for us, no one in Christendom takes Jesus' statements about murder seriously, anyway. Remember that part in the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus says that anger at one's brother qualifies as murder in God's eyes, too? What a drama queen, eh? How are you going to fight a war on terrorism with bad advice like that floating around? Blessed be the sharpshooters, for they shall inherit the kingdom of oil!

"Nice touch with your initial denial-denial, too, Pat. In lying about whether you used the word 'assassination' in the original broadcast calling for Chavez's murder, you sidestepped the dictum 'Thou shalt not bear false witness.' As old Beelzebub says, 'If you're going to lie -- and we heartily recommend it -- then you might as well lie boldly.'

"Sure, they'll catch your duplicity on videotape, but no one cares about little fibs in a world full of abortion, gay sex and Islamic militancy. You covered up nicely by telling the media vultures your words were misinterpreted and that you were actually calling for Chavez to be kidnapped. You brought a lot of dishonor to the gospel by compounding your lie, Pat. Again, Lucifer salutes your ingenuity.

"You also get kudos for comparing your situation as an advocate for assassination to Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the Lutheran nut who was arrested for trying to kill Hitler. Remember, whenever you find yourself in trouble, drag the Fuhrer's name into the mix. It will distort everything and bring that old rug chewer the notoriety he continues to crave even in hell.

"Meanwhile, keep up the good work, Pat. The eyes of His Infernal Majesty rest ever upon you. Sincerely, your affectionate mentor in the faith -- Stinkblossom Karlrovian, the Archduke of Pain."

"Dear Demon. I rebuke you. I, Pat Robertson, am a minister of the Gospel, not some supplicant sitting on a bar stool in Hell waiting for advice. Why are you writing to me? I am opposed to everything you represent. Get thee behind me. I won't mock my calling as a minister of the Gospel by becoming a pen pal to a devil destined for eternal damnation. I cast you out. Sincerely, Pat Robertson."

"My Dear Pat. You scared me for a second. Thinking that I had written to the wrong sinner, I reviewed your file. You're definitely one of our guys. You must be experiencing one of your frequent bouts of self-deception. Snap out of it. You're embarrassing yourself.

"But just to prove to you that your evil deeds haven't gone unnoticed in the First Circle of Hell, we'll share one or two names from your file to show how hypocritical you actually are.

"Remember your friendship with Mobutu Sese Seko, the brutal dictator of Zaire? You purchased diamond mining rights from him a decade ago. You were deep in the blood diamond business then, a cesspool of human depravity and misery. You used planes owned by Operation Blessing, a missionary effort to facilitate a modern form of slavery. Instead of medicine, the planes delivered mining supplies. It was tax-exempt, too.

"When Mobutu's rule ended in exile and death, you took Liberian strongman Charles Taylor under your wings, cutting deals to prospect for gold and diamonds in his civil war-ravaged country. Mobutu and Taylor murdered a lot more than Chavez. When did you call for their assassinations, Pat? Did we miss it?

"You're so up to your eyeballs in evil, it isn't funny. Your file is as long as Hades is deep. We'll have to prepare a special throne for your arrival one day. Already, our mouths water at the thought of your succulent hypocrisy. Sincerely, His Infernal Cabinet Minister, Lord Stinkblossom."

"Dear Lord Stinkblossom. I assure you, you've taken my relationship with loathsome African dictators out of context. I was engaged in legitimate business in Africa, not exploitation. What those rulers did to their own people was their business. My conscience is clean even though those efforts weren't blessed with godly outcomes.

"Maybe you should be writing to my good friend Rev. Jerry Falwell. He's the one who's called for blowing 'all terrorists away in the name of the Lord.' He's far more bloodthirsty than I'll ever be. With trepidation, Rev. Pat Robertson."

"Dear Judas Robertson. Once again, you're trying to dodge responsibility. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be a problem. We consider cowardice a virtue, but you're trying to wiggle out of your obligation to the Prince of Darkness.

"Please understand that your giggling won't help if you attempt to double-cross the source of worldly ambition and power. Lord Humiliation of the 33 Pentagrams may have to visit you with fire unless you repent of this silliness. Hell awaits your apology. Much incensed, Lord Stinkblossom, King of Pain."

"My Dear Friend, Stinkblossom. What's the diamond situation in the depths of Hell? Do you have enough labor on hand that we could enter into a mutually beneficial contract? My friend Mobutu can vouch for my character. With warm regards, Pat."

Sick Of W's B.S.

A U.S. Air Force colonel has been charged with painting obscenities on parked cars bearing pro-President Bush bumper stickers, police said on Wednesday.

Lt. Col. Alexis Fecteau, who supervises 41 full-time and part-time reservists at the National Security Space Institute in Colorado Springs, Colo., is suspected of vandalizing 12 cars at Denver International Airport over a six-month period, Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

"Lieutenant Colonel Fecteau has been charged with one count of felony mischief and six misdemeanor counts related to the vandalism," Jackson said.

Fecteau, who could not be reached for comment, is scheduled to be arraigned later this month.

Police said they received numerous complaints dating back to December 2004 from people with cars bearing Bush or Bush-Cheney campaign bumper stickers that their vehicles had been vandalized.

Police set up a bait car with a pro-Bush bumper sticker, parked it at the airport with a surveillance camera, and waited. On July 1, the camera recorded a man spray-painting over the bumper sticker with an expletive.

Investigators traced the license plate of the suspected vandal to Fecteau, 42, who turned himself into police last week and was released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Jackson would not comment on a possible motive for the vandalism, but said one victim had to spend $2,000 on repairs after it was spray-painted, which led to the felony charge.

Maj. Tina Barber-Matthew, spokeswoman for the U.S. Air Force Space Command, said the case was under investigation, but that it would be "premature" to discuss what discipline Fecteau would face if convicted.

"Until we can validate or invalidate the charges, he is still on full-duty status," she said.

Barber-Matthew said Fecteau has been in charge at the post since October 2004. The institute provides ongoing training to Air Force personnel to keep them current on space technology and its applications, she said.

DON"T SHOOT !!!!

"Yesterday I was shooting some photos of One Bush St. (the building where Bush and Market Streets intersect) when their security guard came out of his little glass jewelbox lobby hut to ask me to stop taking photos of the building. He said it was illegal. I moved to the sidewalk and continued taking photos and he again asked me to stop. When I told him I was on a public street sidewalk he said that actually they owned the sidewalk and that I was going to have to stop taking photographs.

At this point I told the little guy to call the police and have me arrested which he said he did. He then proceeded to follow me around the building, from Bush St. to Battery St. to Market St. to Sansome St. and try to physically put his hand in front of the lens of my camera as I shot the building. Fortunately I was taller than he was so I was able to hold the camera out of his range. It was kind of comedic actually.

Although I've been harassed many, many times for taking photos (the camera goes with me virtually everywhere) this was the first time I was accosted by a security guard on a public sidewalk.

I was looking forward to the interchange between myself the security guard and a cop (who I doubt he could really get to show up even though he kept insisting they were coming to arrest me) but I had to get going and was done shooting the building. So after about 10 minutes I was on my way.

I'd encourage anyone with a camera to stop by One Bush if you're in the neighborhood and fire off a few more shots to annoy this guy.

The inquiry recommended Annan waive immunity for "purposes of a criminal investigation" of Sevan, a Cypriot, and Yakovlev, a Russian.

Separately, the Manhattan district attorney's office is investigating Sevan and Yakovlev.

Sevan, 67, who served in the United Nations for 40 years, has denied any wrongdoing. He resigned from the world body on Sunday, which automatically lifts his immunity, and is reported to be in Cyprus.
